How does the BeAlert Vacation membership work?

When you sign up for a BeAlert Vacation membership, we help you set up your profile with all of the necessary information needed to assist you in the event of a medical emergency.

We take the stress out of trying to navigate the medical system in an unfamiliar destination. We have an extensive medical network throughout the Caribbean region so that no matter where you are, we are able to easily connect you to the care you need and we will assist you every step of the way.

In the unfortunate event that you are facing a medical issue or emergency while on your vacation, we are available 24-hours a day to assist you in getting the medical care you need as fast as possible.

What should I do if I am experiencing a medical emergency?

I have a pre-existing medical condition – can I still sign up for a BeAlert Vacation membership?

Yes! We highly encourage travellers with pre-existing medical conditions vacationing in the Caribbean to sign up for BeAlert Vacation. You can rest easy and enjoy your vacation knowing that should you need medical attention, we are one step ahead in getting you the treatment that you need!

I’m traveling with my family, how do I make sure they are also covered?

When you sign up for your BeAlert Vacation membership, please let us know the number of people in your party that require coverage and follow the steps to submit their information and that’s it! BeAlert Vacation memberships can cover everyone in your party, regardless of age.

Does the BeAlert Vacation Membership cover air ambulance flights?

No, the BeAlert Vacation membership does not include air ambulance flights.

If you find yourself in need of an air ambulance (for either emergency or non-emergency medical transport), we will assess the situation according to your location and the severity of the incident and provide you with the best options. We will organize to dispatch one of our air ambulances or coordinate with another air ambulance company depending on what fits the situation best.

Where am I covered with this program?

With BeAlert Vacation you are covered anywhere within the Caribbean region with the exception of  Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands – currently we do not cover these locations.

If I don’t have medical insurance, can I still sign up for the BeAlert Vacation Program?

Of course! We always suggest signing up for a travel medical insurance plan prior to going on vacation, however you are more than welcome to sign up for BeAlert Vacation with or without medical insurance coverage.

Does the program cover minors?

Yes – our BeAlert Vacation memberships cover people of all ages.

What happens if I don’t have an emergency?

Whether you are facing a medical emergency or a non-urgent medical situation, you can feel free to contact our 24-hour assistance hotline at any time.

Do I get an air ambulance flight when I sign up for the Caribbean Emergency Network?

No, air ambulance flights are not included in the Caribbean Emergency Network.

If you need to be transported via air ambulance we will assist in coordinating the logistics and organize the flight through BahamasEvac for you. Alternatively, we will connect you with another air ambulance provider if we are not available. However, you will be responsible for covering the full cost of the flight.

BahamasEvac has several options for air ambulance memberships that include a certain amount of medivac flights per year.

Our BeAlert Sky memberships come in Basic, Gold and Platinum with the option to cover just one person or the entire family. In the event you need an air ambulance, your BeAlert Sky membership covers between 2 to 4 flights per year depending on the membership you choose*.

Why do you need my documents to sign up for the Caribbean Emergency Network?

The Caribbean Emergency Network is the first step in getting you the medical care you need as fast as possible.

When we have your documents on file it helps to expedite the process of coordinating care should an unexpected accident or illness occur. This helps to reduce wait times and make for a more efficient and quicker response time.

 

Is my personal information kept private/safe when I upload them?

Yes, your information is kept private in our system and only accessed by our team should you need emergency medical assistance.

Is there a fee for the Caribbean Emergency Network?

No, the Caribbean Emergency Network is free to all Caribbean citizens and permanent residents.
